Round two report
Soren Kjeldsen and Alex Noren booked their places in the last 16 of the WGC – Dell Technologies Match Play a day early after respective victories over Emiliano Grillo and Bernd Wiesberger on day two of the 64-man tournament. Kjeldsen’s victory means World Number Two Rory McIlroy’s match against Grillo on Friday becomes meaningless as neither the Northern Irishman nor the Argentinean can past Kjeldsen in their group. McIlroy did not play on Thursday after his match against Gary Woodland was conceded by the American due to personal reasons. Noren will benefit from the withdrawal of Francesco Molinari on Friday. The Italian was forced out of the tournament with a wrist injury, meaning the Swede will have a 3-0 record in the group stage. Kjeldsen and Noren are the only two players to have secured th…

Tommy Fleetwood WINS BY  one-shot  at Abu Dhabi HSBC ChampionshipTommy Fleetwood ended a three-and-a-half year winless run on the European Tour with a one-shot victory at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Aphibarnrat grabbed the early initiative and leapfrogged the overnight leader, Tyrrell Hatton, with birdies on his first two holes, before temporarily moving two ahead when Hatton bogeyed the third. Kaymer birdied the second and racked up a hat-trick of gains from the sixth, but bogeyed the ninth to head in to the back nine level with Aphibarnrat at the top of the leaderboard. Three consecutive birdies around the turn lifted Larrazabal within one of the lead, as Kaymer dropped a shot at the 10th to join a growing group one off the pace. Fleetwood followed an eagle-three at the 10th with a birdie at the next hole to go alongside playing partner Aphibarnrat, who cancelled out a bogey after finding water at the 12th with a gain…

Round three report

Tyrrell Hatton will take a one shot lead into the final round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, but he will have two Major Champions in close pursuit as he bids for a second European Tour victory.
The Englishman moved to 13 under par at Abu Dhabi Golf Club courtesy of a third round 68, edging one shot clear of a group of five players which includes US Open Champion Dustin Johnson and two-time Major winner Martin Kaymer.
American Johnson posted the lowest round of the day – a superb eight under par 64 which featured an eagle three on the eighth hole, remarkably the only par five he has made better than par on so far this week. Overnight leader Kaymer, a three-time winner in Abu Dhabi, returned a level par round of 72 to stay on 12 under par and keep in contention for a fourth Falcon Trophy, while …

Gallacher joins 500 club in Abu Dhabi
Stephen Gallacher joined an exclusive club at Abu Dhabi Golf Club on Thursday by becoming just the 32ndplayer to play 500 European Tour events.
The former Ryder Cup player becomes the fifth Scot in history to reach the milestone, following Sam Torrance (706), Colin Montgomerie (605), Gordon Brand Jnr (597) and Paul Lawrie (591).
Gallacher has recorded three victories thus far in a distinguished career, including back-to-back titles at the 2013 and 2014 Omega Dubai Desert Classic, the second of which went a long way in securing his Ryder Cup debut on home soil at Gleneagles later that year.
His victory in Dubai in 2013 bridged a gap of nine years from his maiden title on the European Tour which came at the 2004 Alfred Dunhill Links Championship at St Andrews, where he beat Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell in a play-off.
That breakthrough win in front of jubilant home fans came exactly 35 years…
